Very relaxed. Karin and Stuart will look after you very well. We stayed 4 nights and we'd stay again if we visit the area again. Grab a night or two here if it's free!

The grounds and service are exceptional tucked away in a really nice part of west cork. We stayed at the lake house and were lucky enough to have really nice views over the lake. The use of the buggy was a nice perk.

It was great.
It was great. But unless you have "sat-nav", booking.com directions won't get you there. We were using an Eirecode finder on my phone but as we got close, internet service suddenly quit. We had to telephone.

Do visit the art centre and the heritage centre, which has a largeish display about the famine, though it rather conceals the background reasons for why people were so impoverished -- ie, hundreds of years of oppression of Catholics by England. But we both learned a lot. Lough Hyne, by comparison, is not such a big deal. It may be a marine reserve, but there's very little wildlife there. A good place for swimming, however. The Church restaurant is fairly good, but very expensive, like so many restaurants in Ireland (ie, compared with London)

Skibbereen is a surprising pleasure. lovely small but varied high street, worth a wander, with variety of shops. Local Fields worth dropping in for the local produce and cakes. Lovely dinner at The Church Restaurant. Famine museum was definitely worth a visit too. Nicely done- lots of info and presented in a style where you leave sobered but not depressed!

People are very helpful and friendly, lovely shops, great farmers market with a great variety of stalls. Lots of cafes and we loved the Church Restaurant. Close proximity to coastal villages of Baltimore, Glandore, Union Hall and Castletownsend. Steeped in rich history and beautiful scenery! Loved the West Cork Hotel, we had such a peaceful and relaxing few days.

We loved the social life and made the most of the local pubs and restaurants. We especially liked the Church Restaurant and also had a couple of evenings in the Corner Pub.
The Saturday morning Farmers' Market was excellent, as was the range of cafes and boutique shops.
We enjoyed the Heritage Centre and the helpful genealogist helped me locate my living relatives in the town!
Within close proximity of the town are some lovely walks too.
Katherine was an amazing host. Nothing was too much trouble. Because we were travelling on motorbikes she even gave us a lift to the pub and back for our evening meal. We had the use of a lounge in the evening, so we could socialise with our friends and the fridge at the top of the stairs with fresh milk and bottled water was a lovely touch. The breakfasts were first class, served in a lovely conservatory with sea views.
We would definitely book again, if we were in the area. Highly recommended.
My friend and I stayed in Stone Barn for one night, and it BEYOND exceeded our expectations. We were made feel so welcome by Karin and Stuart. The place is just stunning, we were both blown away. It is comfortable, bright, spacious and clean, with an incredible breakfast.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It's about a 10min drive outside of Skibbereen town in the country, which suited us perfectly. We loved it and would recommend to anyone over and over again.
The staff were very helpful, friendly, professional. Nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was included in the price which was very good value. There was a breakfast buffet as well as a cooked breakfast which was served by a lady called Shiela. I was very impressed with the service and levels of professionalism. I was made so welcome to the West Cork Hotel I highly rate and look forward to staying there again in the future.
The old hotel is in a wonderful location right on the river and across from the Heritage Center. It offers a clean room with full bar and restaurant services for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The hotel concierge was extremely helpful and let us check in early to get our of the pouring down rain. The family atmosphere was great. The bartender was such a fun person.
The owners were very nice and they let us do late check in although it was stated as 8 pm in the rules.
The place is in the center of Skibbereen with access to pubs, restaurants and in a good place to explore West Cork area. They are serving breakfast in the mornings which you can choose out of some options. Check in and check out were easy.
Kenny and Christine were super friendly and welcoming, the beds were comfy and Kenny helped us set up the tv so we could watch the rugby :D The location was a great base for that area, close to Skibb and Ballydehob and spots like Lough Hyne, Tragumna etc. It was so quiet and peaceful. The cat was super friendly which is always a bonus for me!
I only stayed for one night, as I had an appointment in the area. Having said that. I'd have been happy to stay for longer. The room was spacious, the bed comfortable, and the breakfast items in the room meant I was completely independent. I had a good chat with the owner, who was very friendly and welcoming. All in all, a lovely experience.
The room was spacious, spotless and clean. The dining area was lovely and the breakfast was tasty. Fine selection on the menu. During our stay Kathleen couldn't do enough for us plus she was an excellent hostess. If we stay in West Cork again we will hopefully stay here. Couldn't recommend it enough.
Wonderful location for visiting the west of Cork. Breakfast was great and Ann and her husband were wonderful hosts. We had dinner one evening at the Eldon Hotel and to say the lady there was worth her weight in information and history is an understatement. Didn’t get her name but she was amazing.
We had a wonderful time at Atlantic House. Kathleen is a marvelous host and makes every effort to make her guests feel comfortable and welcome - she is also a wealth of information about the beautiful area she lives in
A fantastic country house hotel. very relaxing from the moment we arrived. Staff excellent . Fabulous walks through the forest and down to the lake. cant wait to return.
