Academic and Artistic Greatness
An artistic gem, Padua (or Padova in Italian) seamlessly combines awe-inspiring heritage and a modern vibe. Counting Galileo among its former tutors, the University has the world’s oldest UNESCO World Heritage-listed botanical garden.
Across the road is huge Prato della Valle, a green square with a canal lined by 78 statues, and home to a Saturday market. A market is also held in squares near to Palazzo della Ragione whose multi-levelled arches and vaulted wooden ceiling are an impressive sight. Cobbled, porticoed streets lead to the finely-crafted Gran Loggia and clock tower.
Every church has incredible décor, but the most famous is Saint Anthony of Padua, boasting the bones of the saint, an impressive 7 cupolas and 4 cloisters. The square in front has a statue by Donatello. Padua Cathedral's simple exterior houses amazing frescoes inside the baptistery by Giotto, creator of the jewel in Padua’s crown – the Scrovegni Chapel. His 14th century frescoes there have been meticulously restored to be as vibrant as the day they were painted.
The closest airport is Venice Marco Polo, but before you head there from your Padua hotel, apartment or B&B take time to enjoy the narrow streets around Palazzo del Bò or the Jewish district.

Beautiful city with plenty of culture and architectural landmarks. I would recommend it for anyone coming to Venice for its distance and relative affordability in comparison with the most tourist city of Veneto.

Padova is a fabulous city for people who like history, art, architecture, and culture. It is easy to move around the city on foot, and the city bus service is cheap, frequent, reliable and comfortable for places further out. The large student population makes for a very vibrant atmosphere, as do the outdoor markets in the piazzas.
The Scrovegni Chapel and Basilica of St Anthony are outstanding places to visit, but if you have time, tour the University. It is an inspiring experience to stand where giants of science, medicine and philosophy developed the ideas that shaped the world. Here you can see the lectern from which Galileo taught mathematics, and the world's first anatomy and dissection theatre, as well as lecture halls where the walls are covered with plaques commemorating famous alumni.

Recommend University Tour, Scrovegni Chapel, and the Basilica of St Anthony. Baptistery of the Duomo was just incredible. Renaissance architecture of the city is stunning.
Enjoyed the small bars for Aperitivo
I will stay for a longer period next time

Padua is a really handy and lovely place to stay in between Verona and Venice, so you can pay slighlty less for accomodation there and then take day trips to Verona (1 hr train ride away) or Venice (45 minutes away).
The food was, on average, much better and cheaper in padua than Venice.

We stayed in Padova only one night, arriving around 5 pm.
We stayed in Padova only one night, arriving around 5 pm. We found lots and lots of places that served sandwiches and coffee/beer/wine but, in contrast to Udine, we had a hard time finding restaurants with real food. I would not go back.
We were traveling by car and stayed at the hotel because it was only a 30 minute drive to Venice. What surprised me was the location. Padova is actually a tourist town, with immediate access to historic sites from the apartment. And with supermarkets, bakeries, pharmacies, etc. all nearby, I would recommend staying here for a couple of nights if you are traveling to Venecia by car. It is well equipped and a great place for a couple to make a memorable visit.
The room was very nicely decorated with art artifacts, but the bathroom had in our opinion too many hearts painted in white, e.g. on the door of the small shower cabin, and fixed ones on the walls in red plastic. The heating system worked perfectly.
The hotel is very close to the Basilica Sant'Antonio. You leave the hotel, and you already see the Basilica. Next door you find coffee shops and traditional restaurants around the old arcades in narrow streets.
Very nice room, well decorated and clean. Space to park the car in the courtyard and they kindly let me leave the car there also after checkout. The place is not a hotel but it consists of independent rooms/suites inside a private property, accessible from the courtyard. This was not clear to me when I booked, but not a problem. Very quiet and in a very convenient position to visit Padova. Should I go back to Padova I will definitely book here again.
We stayed at Albergo Junior for two nights on our return from Southern Italy. We came with our own car and parking was not a problem. Albergo Junior is conveniently located to explore the major highlights of the city by foot or bus. The owner is friendly and helpful, our room was spacious and convenient, the breakfast was o.k. The atmosphere in the hotel is very personal. We can recommend Albergo Junior for a stay to explore Padua.
The hotel is located on the edge of Padova old town. You can walk in 10-15 min to all the key attractions. The staff was polite and helpful. The room was clean and had nice design. The bed was comfy. We also had a nice terrace, shame we did not have time to enjoy it. The breakfast was good (please bear in mind that as almost everywhere in Italy there are mostly sweet options). Overall we have enjoyed our stay Hotel Patavium.
I liked the staff and the hotel surroundings (it was in a very quiet area and we felt quite safe there). We appreciated that we could park for free in front of the hotel and that the breakfast was more varied than usual (e. g. there were eggs, which is not very typical in Italy). The hotel staff was friendly and helpful, we could choose the room and got the one with the balcony. And we got bus tickets for free.
My husband and I stayed for a couple of days at CANTON DELL ORTO and had a great stay at their premisses. The hotel was super clean and comfortable. Facilities are recently refurbished.
The place is located very close to bus and tram stations as well as just a 20 min walk from the main Padova bus, railways station.
We really enjoyed our stay at Canton dell Orto and will be back once in Padova again.
This a “classical hotel” in the best sense! Big convenient parking, charming room with big wooden blocks on the ceilings and a very clean bathroom with spacious shower. Comfortable bed, good sound proof windows. Breakfast was also better than most “breakfasts” you would usually have in Italy. Public transport stops are nearby and it was easy to get to the center of Padova.
This is a lovely hotel with some pleasing character. All aspects of the room and breakfast were highly satisfactory. The location is OK if you want to catch a tram/bus or train, but a bit far from the town centre, though not a problem for anyone with legs which work. Padova is a great base for a holiday.
Staff was so supportive and communicative. I was late in check-in. They supported me sharing video and instructions how to get into hotel and room. Food was included with my booking. Place was beautiful and location was good too. I am happy to stay here.
- Convenient location, next to the highway and not that far away from the centre.
- Very well organised, managed and clean place.
- Excellent, polite and efficient staff.
- Quite a good breakfast, above the typical for similar hotels in Italy.
Nice hotel. Very good place, not far from centre of Padova. You can quite easy get to the city by walk, or take bus. The breakfast was incredible. No any diet after it. ))). Parking was without a problem. Strong recommend this hotel.
Location close to the center of Padova is superb, also the staff service. Breakfast was delicious and very versatile for a small hotel. Very clean room (big enough) and bathroom. A secure parking place.
Close to the station. Very clean. Well heated. Ok as a parking place for one night at a lower cost considering the night rates of other hotels nearby. Staff were kind, helpful and spoke good English.
Location was perfect for us. We wanted to visit the basilica early morning and the hotel is just opposite the basilica. Room was good. Staff was awesome.
Outstanding location right on the Piazza dei Signori. The entire hotel is nicely decorated with an interesting series of paintings decorating the walls.
