A Symbol of Sicily
Edgy and eclectic, Palermo is a symbol of all that Sicily stands for. From buzzing Vespas to the bustling Vucciria market, it simply brims with life.
Wonderful Palermo Cathedral glows radiantly in the Mediterranean sun. Nearby is the city’s last Sicilian Puppet Theatre, and opposite is a palm-filled park housing Roman mosaics, though the best are in the archaeological museum. At one end is the Norman Palace, a government building home to the fabulous Cappella Palatina whose gold mosaics are absolutely breathtaking.
Equally magnificent are the gold mosaics lining 12th-century Monreale Cathedral on the city’s outskirts. Wander the cloisters and note the varying columns and capitals – each pair is different.
Palermo also has fascinating churches: 2 of the oldest are 12th-century San Giovanni degli Eremeti and San Cataldo, each with red, Islamic-style domes. Gesú Church has an incredible Sicilian Baroque interior, while La Martorana’s frescoes are awe-inspiring. A street away is Quattro Canti, a crossroads with a fountain at each corner.
Other attractions include round Teatro Massimo, Mondello beach and Monte Pellegrino mountain overlooking the sea. You get fabulous views of this picnic spot as you fly into Palermo Airport before heading to your Booking.com accommodation.
History, culture, food, etc. If you get a chance to stay in the city center, do it. It is a great way to experience daily life in Sicily. Every day you will discover something new at every corner. One thing I did notice is the amount of interest people have in churches. If just half the people that go in to take pictures were to attend one weekly what a different world we would live in.
Street markets and the street food is a must.
There is a bus service from the airport to the city center at a cost of 6 euros each way or 10 euros round trip. Prestige E Comande is the name of the bus company.

A wonderful & historic city, very walkable for pedestrians, particularly in the pedestrianised areas.
Numerous restaurants to choose from but we had some delicious meals at the Theatre Massimo Restaurant & other restaurants.
One thing we disliked on the very busy (non-pedestrian) streets was the traffic, very aggressive almost reckless driving & parking with constant use of horns & sirens but even that could not take away from beautiful Palermo. Some streets have serious litter problems.
It was great to be able to store our luggage at this property on the day we were leaving & the use of toilet.
This is a very special property & it has left us with a very positive image of Palermo.

I had been to Palermo five years ago, also at the end of April. This time the main historical sites were much more crowded and the infrastructure not really ready to accommodate them. Example: one person selling tickets to the Capella Palentina, with 70 people in line. We tried twice for the city bus to Monreale, but couldn't get on either time, it only runs every 75 minutes, and there were twice as many people waiting as could fit. Restaurants were crowded.
But the Archeological Museum and the Regional Art Gallery were both well worth the visit and not overcrowded.
Next time I think I will go in February, not April/May.

Vibrant and interesting city with striking architecture.
Vibrant and interesting city with striking architecture. People are friendly and proud of their city. The street markets are fun to visit and offer traditional, local food at great prices; there are many nice restaurants with where one can eat well and reasonably. The historic center can be easily visited by foot making a car unnecessary. Monreale Cathedral, Cefalu, and Agrigento (Valley of Temples) can be easily visited by booking separate tours or private transportation if one doesn't have a car. The traffic is chaotic, especially motorcycles and scooters, so pay attention and use the crosswalks!

Enjoyed the many historical sites. Street trash is everywhere and graffiti and broken sidewalks Sad to see beautiful historical buildings poorly maintained. Felt safe and very walkable. Uber worked great when needed.

Fantastic City with great bus transport and lovely people.
Fantastic City with great bus transport and lovely people. The food was excellent. Our favourite place to eat in the day was Capo Market and we enjoyed fantastic seafood there and there was a fantastic atmosphere. In the evening there are loads of choice of eating places in lovely squares around every corner. The city comes alive at night and looks completely different from the slightly decayed look of the city during the day. Although the city has lost its lusture of days gone by, it is full of history character and charm. Make sure you visit Monreale and make sure you visit Mondello Beach. You can get to both of these places easily by bus.
Perfectly located among the best areas of Palermo. Quiet building and street (except for when someone's car alarm went off multiple times through the night). The host communicated wonderfully and received us after a long flight and bus ride and walk. The walk from the bus station is not bad, maybe 10 minutes. She has a lovely common area with tea and little snacks and treats that was wonderful. Love the view out our window too. The hot water and shower was by far the best we've had on our travels in Italy. Definitely very clean too!
The hotel is situated in Via Roma near the railway station. An excellent starting point for exploring Palermo. It is on the four floors of the building. There is a friendly old fashion typical Italian-style elevator. There is a reception, and the staff is very helpful and polite. They will give you information about Palermo and Sicily. The room is extra big. There is air conditioning in the room. The breakfast is more than classical Italian. You can choose various options and also they will ask you to offer more food and drinks.
The apartment was cute and modern, and super clean. Was also very good value for money in Palermo and Marco the host was so lovely. We had our 4 month baby with us and he went out of his way to secure a travel cot for us and make sure we were comfortable. Was also very grateful for good air con! He also left us a lovely welcome basket of Sicilian goodies and made us feel very welcome. Marco also recommended us the best Pizza we had whilst in Sicily! Thank you Marco!
The staff were amazing. They helped organize our taxis upon arrival and for day trips. Massimo and Alessio were very informative and gave tips of different places to visit throughout Palermo. They were extremely kind and welcoming! And the location was perfect !!! Close to the train station as well as in the city centre near all the action. The B&B also had breakfast every morning which was delicious and classic for Sicily.
Great boutique hotel in the vibrant area of Palermo. Near (if not on) the market.
As the streets are creating a lot of noise, the hotel itself is very quit. That is a big plus! The courtyard is very nice as well and an away from everything.
Breakfast very good; both sweet and savoury available.
Staff is very helpful and friendly.
We used the apartment as our gateway to Palermo/Sicily and the location is perfect for that purpose. Advise: if you are arriving from the airport, get of the bus as close to Via Sant Augustino as possibe and save a long walk from the Central Station. And as she said as we walked through the door: "I could live here!"
Very helpful host (Filippo); clean, spacious and luminous bedroom and bathroom. Breakfast was also good.
Close to transport hubs (5min to train station for airport and 15min to train station for Cefalù).
One of the best rooms we have had during our tour of Sicily (and they were all pretty decent).
Seems It is the best place in Palermo.
I highly recommend it for those who loves art or just want to live in a sophisticated interior.
Clean, well located in the heart of Palermo,
has everything we need. And what made the impression on me is a design - stylish, Sicily vibrant, artistically subtle!
Good location, I mostly walked around Palermo from the hotel after taking a taxi there from the train. The bed was by far the best bed I slept on in Italy. The shower was fancy with many spouts. They also gave me a sheet of tourist recommendations and advised on what is in walking distance.
Quirky boutique Hotel renovated with imagination and style. Perfectly located for exploring Palermo. Charming staff, very helpful. They parked our small camper safely for our stay so we didn’t have to worry about it. Fabulous breakfast. Would highly recommend.
Amazing room. We stayed in the Valguarnera Suite which was a coincidence and very lovely touch to our last day in Italy as my wife's family is from there on the other side of Sicily. Very friendly staff and the room was huge with a beautiful bathroom.
Beautiful old hotel. Staff was very helpful and welcoming. Large, plentiful breakfast in beautiful room. Wonderful central location for exploring Palermo. Great sauna and roof top bar and terrace. Best Negroni in all of Sicily (Rome and Amalfi Coast).
Central to everywhere in Palermo.
Spotlessly Clean.
Friendly Owner.
Three times we have stayed here in our six times to Sicily.
1 minute walk opposite Taetro Massimo
5 minute walk from Piazza Politiamea(Bus stop from/to the
Airport.)
The location was great - a walking distance to Palermo's main tourist attractions. The breakfast was rich and served on a lovely terrasse. The host was very open and gave us a lot of information about Palermo and Sicily in general.
Super setting with gardens. Lovely rooms. Comfortable bed. Kindly let us check in early and made sure breakfast early because we had an early departure. Excellent staff who assisted us. Best hotel we stayed at in Sicily.
The location is great and close to landmarks and train station which is very comfortable for a short stay.
Also the host is super helpful and friendly! In our stay in Sicily it was the best acommodation we had !
Great location and a very kind and helpful host. Fresh breakfast made by the host every morning. The host was very kind to give us a lot of tip about Palermo and other locations around Sicily.
The room was very clean and big. The shower is big ( some hotels in Sicily have a very small shower). For breakfast we had an omelette which was delicious.
